Skoda Kushq facelift 2026 is just introduced in India with some very useful changes and very practical upgrades. Now it has got new 8 speed automatic torque converter. Also it has got newer exterior design and headlight setup. Is Skoda Kushaq Worth Buying in India is the question people asking now. We will see how these upgrades is going to affect a buyer decision.
Is Skoda Kushaq Worth Buying In India
Kushaq car name is inspired from a sanskrit word ‘Kushak’ which means a King. This naming is taken specially keeping the India buyer and Indian culture in mind. Skoda Kushaq is contributing almost 13% of total sale of the cars from the brand.

Here we will understand what are the chances of improvement in this car and what is its real potential. The Kushaq car comes with two engine options one is 1.0L TSI and 1.5L TSI engine. TSI is similar to TGDI in which the fuel is injected directly into the combustion chamber which increases the cars performance and efficiency without compromising on fuel economy. Both the engines are having Timing Belt rather than Timing Chain. The timing belt keep the cam shaft in sync with the crank shaft of the engine. These shafts are important to be in sync so that the engine will give best performance and best mileage. If there is any breakage in this belt or there is any timing out in its placement then it can cause heavy damage to the engine, the valves and piston can get damaged too.
Skoda Kushaq Gearbox
The new 8 speed torque converter gearbox used here is AQ300. This AQ300 replaced older AQ250 gear box which was a 6 speed transmission. The AQ300 supports 8 forward gears which means there is 8 closely spaced gear ratio. The benefits of this is better RPM management, Tall Overdrive gear means earlier over drive gears were 5 and 6 now that shifted to 7 and 8 so torque distribution is till 6th gear which is longer than the older one. Simple words means torque will be available till 6th gear also and the lower gears are going to be very punchy. This also means that at 5 gears there will be best performance available and after that there will be best mileage in 6, 7th and 8th gears. This gear has better heat management and used better internal components.

Finally this new gear box have benefit for a car buyer which are
- Imporved Acceleration
- Smoother Gear shift
- Improved Fuel Economy
- Best performance
- Torque distribution is more efficient
- Enhanced Highway Running And cruising
- Low NVH specially on Highways
Benefit to the company
- Meet CAFE III norms which will be implemented in 2027.
- Step at low Carbon foot print,
- This gear box is being manufactured by a Japanese company, but recently it will be manufactures in China at 10% less cost.
- Skoda to use this gear box very first so market reputation will increase.
- Skoda trying to manufacture it locally to reduce its cost but before that it has to be checked that how this gearbox will perform in India.
Skoda Kushaq has achieved 5 star safety rating in GNCAP 2022. Skoda in its India strategy 2.0 redesigned its MQB platform. It has locally sourced components and use high strength steel frames. Infect they use TATA’s high strength steel in its Frames.

What Is The Technical Specification Of Skoda Kushaq?

Kushaq comes with two engine options 1.0L TSI which a 3 cylinder engine and 1.5L TSI which is a 4 cylinder engine. The 1.0L TSI comes with 6 speed Manual and 8 speed Torque Converter. Whereas the 1.5L TSI comes with 6 speed manual and 7 speed DSG gear box.

The 1.0L TSI produces 115PS Power and 178NM torque and the 1.5L TSI produces 150PS power and 250NM torque. With the DSG gear box Skoda launched first in segment 8 speed torque converter in its 1.0L engine. The DSG they are using is DQ200 gearbox.

What Are The Disadvantages Of A Skoda Kushaq?
New Kushaq is providing 4 year/100000km warranty , 4 years RSA and 4 labour free services in 3 years time period. But Skoda should have provided warranty for 5 year than 4 years for increasing confidence in buyer. Considering complexity in its engine and high cost of its parts, the extended warranty should be for at least 10 years. Due to the maintenance fear mind buyers are still not much confident. One more disadvantage of Kushaq is that it comes with timing belt rather than timing chain.
Is Skoda Kushaq high maintenance
For sure Skoda Kushaq a high maintenance car. Skoda uses a high end technology to built their engines. There is a TSI engine in Skoda which is same a TGDI engines which uses a direct injection phenomenon in which the fuel is directly injected into the combustion chamber. In this type of engine the possibility of carbon deposit is higher, the parts are costly because Skoda uses high quality components for performing well. For example fuel injectors which can withstand high pressure and which can also work well under heavy blast condition are used which are costly.
Is Skoda Kushaq Worth It ?
So if we tell about the TGDI engine it is not made for any City’s bumper to bumper traffic, if there is free flow traffic than it can be the option. It is best for highway running, Among 1.0 TSI vs 1.5L TSI, the 1.0L TSI engine will fulfill your maximum city and highway requirements to high extent, if you want a budget option then 1.0 L TSI is best suited for you, if performance is only your priority then you should go for 1.5 L TSI engine. You will get both Manual and DSG gear box there, although DSG gear box is not a cheaper gearbox if get any damage then it will cost higher, the Torque converter is better for maximum road conditions, like in city, on hills, on highways everywhere. But a DSG is developed for performance oriented cars and not for city driving.
Is Kushaq better than creta?
It depends on your need, driving conditions and variants you choose. Kushaq is best for highway riding. It is an performance oriented car which uses high end technology to fetch highest performance. For this it comes with DSG gearbox, it has VGT type of turbo and the engine uses direct injection technology. But a performance car is not made for a city driving. Any TGDI or turbocharged car is not good for high traffic conditions. The small engine of Kushaq is also an TSI engine which is also a direct injection technology. So if your driving is more in city choose a naturally aspirated engine. But if your driving is more on highways then choose a TGDI/TSI engine because in long term it will start creating problems if driven in bumper to bumper traffic.
