The compact SUV segment has become much harder to choose from in 2026. And now, two of the most familiar names have received important updates almost back-to-back: the Tata Nexon Camo Edition and the 2026 Maruti Suzuki Brezza facelift. The updated Brezza currently starts at ₹7.40 lakh and is offered in LXI, VXI, ZXI and ZXI+ trims. Its 1.0-litre turbo-petrol is available with a 6-speed manual, while the 1.5-litre petrol continues with manual and automatic options. CNG remains available with the 1.5-litre engine.

The biggest difference: Nexon gives you more choices

This is where the Tata Nexon Camo has a very strong advantage.

The Camo Edition isn’t a completely new Nexon underneath. Instead, Tata has used the edition to bring a more attractive combination of features and equipment into the range.

And importantly, the Camo treatment starts from the mid variants rather than the base Nexon.

The starting petrol Camo price of ₹9.99 lakh makes that particularly interesting because you aren’t paying top-model money just to get a well-equipped version.

Depending on the variant, the Camo gets features such as a 360-degree camera, cruise control, larger touchscreen, wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, rain-sensing wipers, TPMS, front parking sensors, wireless charging, sunroof and premium cabin equipment.

In other words, the Camo Edition is about giving buyers more equipment without forcing them all the way to the top of the Nexon range.

Brezza’s big weapon: the new 1.0-litre turbo-petrol

This is where the Brezza facelift becomes much more interesting than a normal facelift.

Maruti has introduced a 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbo-petrol engine producing around 110 PS and 170 Nm.

And because the engine is below 1.2 litres, the Brezza can also take advantage of the favourable taxation applicable to smaller-engine sub-four-metre vehicles.

The interesting part is the pricing.

The turbo-petrol starts at just ₹7.40 lakh, making the new turbo Brezza unusually aggressive on price. It is offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox only.

That gives the Brezza a very different character.

If you enjoy driving and want a compact SUV with a strong mid-range punch, the new turbo engine is arguably the most exciting mechanical update in this comparison.

But there is one catch.

The Brezza turbo does not get an automatic gearbox.

So if you specifically want:

Turbo + Automatic

the Nexon is the more flexible choice.

What about CNG?

Both cars now have a very interesting CNG proposition.

The Nexon CNG already offers CNG with a manual gearbox, while the Brezza facelift gets an underbody-mounted CNG setup.

This is an important change for Brezza buyers because the CNG hardware is packaged underneath the vehicle rather than taking up conventional boot space.

Safety: both are now serious contenders

This is no longer an area where the Brezza can simply rely on its brand reputation.

The facelifted Brezza has received a 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating and now gets six airbags, ESC, hill-hold assist, ISOFIX, 360-degree camera and additional ADAS-related functions on applicable variants.

The Nexon also has a strong safety proposition and is available with advanced safety equipment including 360-degree vision and ADAS on higher variants. Tata’s current Nexon lineup offers Level 2 ADAS on the relevant top-end automatic configuration.

So if safety is your first priority, both deserve to be on your test-drive list.

Nexon Camo vs Brezza Facelift: Which one feels like the better buy?

This is where things become less about specifications and more about the kind of owner you are.

Choose the Tata Nexon Camo if:

You want maximum features.

The Camo’s mid-variant positioning makes features such as the 360-degree camera, cruise control and larger infotainment system particularly attractive.

You want powertrain freedom.

Petrol, CNG, diesel, manual and automatic choices give the Nexon a huge advantage.

You drive a lot on highways.

The diesel option remains valuable for high-mileage users.

You want a petrol automatic.

The Nexon gives you more automatic choices than the Brezza turbo range.

You want a premium-feeling feature list.

Ventilated seats, JBL audio, sunroof, air purifier, connected technology and ADAS make the higher Camo variants feel considerably more expensive than they actually are.

Choose the Maruti Brezza facelift if:

You want a turbo-petrol SUV for enthusiastic driving with just starting Pricing Rs. 7.9 LAKH.

The new 110 PS/170 Nm 1.0-litre turbo is the star of this facelift.

You want CNG but don’t want to sacrifice boot practicality.

The underbody CNG arrangement is a meaningful improvement.

You prefer a conventional automatic.

The 1.5-litre petrol continues with a 6-speed automatic, although the turbo itself is manual-only.

You value Maruti’s ownership ecosystem.

For buyers who place a high priority on service reach, familiarity and long-term ownership convenience, Brezza’s Maruti connection remains a significant part of its appeal.

You don’t need diesel.

If your usage is primarily city driving and your shortlist is petrol/CNG only, the Nexon’s diesel advantage isn’t particularly relevant.

My final verdict: Nexon Camo or Brezza facelift?

If I had to choose one car for the average buyer, I would lean towards the Tata Nexon Camo Edition.

Not because the Brezza facelift is bad—it isn’t. In fact, the new turbo engine makes the Brezza much more desirable than before.

But the Nexon simply gives you more ways to spend your money intelligently.

At around the ₹10 lakh mark, the Camo Edition’s feature package is compelling. Add the availability of petrol, CNG and diesel, along with multiple transmission choices, and the Nexon becomes the more complete all-round package.

But there is one important exception.

If my priority was:

“I want a petrol SUV, I don’t need diesel, I want good performance and I value Maruti’s ownership experience.”

I’d seriously consider the Brezza turbo.

And if I drove very high kilometres every month and wanted CNG, the Brezza CNG would also be a very sensible choice.

So my recommendation is simple:

Nexon Camo = better all-rounder and feature-rich choice.

Brezza facelift = better choice for buyers specifically attracted to the new turbo-petrol engine, CNG practicality and Maruti ownership proposition.

And before booking either one, don’t compare them only on paper. Drive both over the same route—especially in traffic, over broken roads and on a highway. The car that feels more comfortable, predictable and natural from the driver’s seat is the one you will enjoy owning for the next five to seven years.
