- Keep servicing the car at regular intervals
- Replace Engine oil change in every service. Also check the engine oil it give us the real insight about the engine condition
- Check the Oil Filter, replace it if looks damaged. It may decrease oil pressure inside the engine.
- Check the Air Filter and clean it. The engine should get Proper and sufficient air through air filter.
- Check the fuel injectors and the proper spark the injector should get to burn the fuel. There should not be misfire inside the injectors.
- Check Spark Plug, Throttle body then Ignition Coil for proper functioning.
- For Spark Plug check for it and clean it. check for the gap between central electrode and side electrode.
- Use a gap tool to measure the gap of central electrode and side electrode gap. It should be same for all the spark plugs. Keep the gap between 7.5mm to 8mm only.
- Also clean the spark plug properly using wd40 spray, there should be no carbon on the electrode and it should not be dark black in color.
- Use wd40 spray and leave it for 10 minutes then clean the electrodes using sand paper.
- Spark plug should be free from any oil accumulation, no sandy or sticky thing should be there on the spark plug.
- Check for Catalytic Convertor and specially its O2 sensors. There are two O2 sensors in it. If any of it do improper functioning then we will face mileage drop. Any connectivity issue and any chock of this sensor will cause the same. Because wrong data will be passed to the ECU and improper fuel consumption will be seen.
- Keep checking MAF sensor– Mass Air Flow Sensors which keep the proper air flow maintained in the engine.
- Also try to check MAP Sensor– Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensors. It checks the proper air pressure being passed to the engine.
- Check ECU for proper functioning.

- Try to keep RPM under 1500 to 2000 to fetch best mileage. Increasing speed above 80kmph decreases the mileage by 35% so try to keep speed under control.
- Keep windows close while driving because open window creates wind resistance and more load on the engine. Fuel economy reduce by 20% on highways.
- Try to check for a sweet spot for the car, check at what speed the car is able to produce good mileage, so try to drive the car in that sweet spot.
- Maintain accurate car tyre pressure, less air will create more resistance and will create more load on the engine.

Here are following tips on how to improve car mileage for diesel cars. These tips can also help in any pickup drop for the diesel cars.
- If there is mileage drop then check whether the car is giving black smoke from the exhaust pipe. try to check intercooler pipe. change it if it is damage.
- Check the EGR there will be carbon deposit inside it. so keep it clean.
- If it is BS6 car then check the DPF. There are carbon deposits in DPF. If it is clogged it can cause pickup drop and low mileage also.
- Also check for the above points like testing the O2 sensors, clean the air filter, clean the throttle body, check ECU and also the spark plugs.
- Diesel fuel density should be between 820-860kg/m cube. It is prescribed by the government.
