So it is very necessary to check everything in and out of the car specially EV. It is a rapidly growing industry which needs to get even more attentive checking. So PDI of an EV should be done by following the below segments because there are many different components and that needs to be checked.

Exterior PDI– This includes the checking of outer segments like front bumper, bonnet, side fenders, door panels, A B and C-pillar. Check for any scratch and fitment, any un even paint, rusting on the doors, headlamps, tail lamps, ORVMs, wind shield away from the wiper marks, back glass area and the panel gaps on it, overall fitment.
TEST Drive– In This Regen mode working or not, breaking are not noisy and but smooth, steering noise should not come, check ADAS and its working, suspension noise check specially on the bad road patch, check battery drop and range drop during test drive, calculate the real world kilometer range. Check the high speed stability in EVs, AC working also be checked.
Interior PDI– Inspect All the electronics working well, if the controls are operated electronically then check all one by one. Check the running of the car in speedo meter, charger and other accessories are in place, check the key fob works fine or not, check the charging gun, the by Charging is working fine or not, check the small battery also its manufacturing and panels, touch display screen working properly. Seats and its sliders check properly, Seat belts rear and in the front, switches of the headlights and dipper, wiper control and other switches should work fine.
Electric vehicle PDI check list
- Check marking lines from factory/plant. Each and every car comes with their self PDI from the factory and after fitting they give a marking donating the connection is safe. If any thing goes wrong with that marking means that there is something wrong done after the car came out from the factory in transit.
- Open the Engine/Motor bay, check for any rusting visible at any part specially the joints.
- Wiring check should be done next no loose connection should be there. Check the car with ignition on condition. No sound should be coming.
- Check the overall Fitments in the boot which is more important because it has charger and other equipment. Having it in the place means the car’s condition is all good. The accessories and tools in place, no rusting should be seen.
- Oxidation can present around cylinder parts welding but the paint is rust proof so always check the body thoroughely.
- Paint thickness check using gauge (paint thickness should be around 100-160 microns) can be used only on metal surfaces. Almost 10-15 microns paint variation on one panel is acceptable. but above that means its not right.
- The paints if done after the factory that means there will be a thickness in the paint quality which can be seen using the thickness meter.
- Panel gaps measures – Panel gap should be checked from LHS with RHS using a scale 2 to 3 mm variation is allowed but more than that is not acceptable.
- Rubber components checking- fitment on doors should be even. No dryness no tear and wear allowed. Ask for the real time polishing at the dealership if any rubber component found fading.
- Dryness on the door rubber components indicated the car is standing for longer time.
- Windscreen check – company and manufacturing dates.
- Tyre tread life check-using a meter. If meter is not available then you can use a one rupee coin also. The tread deepness should not be uneven. Check the manufacturing year written on the tyre. Tyre life Less than 95% remaining is not acceptable. i.e. 96% thread life remaining is ok.
- A four digit number tells the month and year of the tyre. Example 4526 meaning 45 symbolizes the week of manufacturing and 26 means year is 2026. It should match with the manufacturing year of the car.

Signal transmission from different part of the EV is done through the electric circuit. So checking it is the most important part
- Now take key of the car. Both keys should be in working condition. all the features should be checked at the same time.
